the background gradient is 100% washed out in my editor so dithering is fairly impossible ): Odd to see that in the mini (saved) image they're rather prominent.

also, the resulting picture should have the y-distortion applied. Obviously this is 100% "contest" or "challenge" related - it is NOT a bug in the program, just the implemenation detail.

Its probably worth pointing out that the small one is 256 color where as the larger one is 32bit color as well. They are substantially different beasts.
Anyhow I've added a "minimum size" true color version as well and used it for the tiled background as that probably makes more sense here :)
